Share??.??Email??.??Print??.??A+A- New Delhi, Aug 17 (PTI) North India received light to moderate rainfall today keeping the weather pleasant even as central India, specially the state of Madhya Pradesh, was lashed by heavy rains, which has claimed 31 lives so far. The capital Delhi was pleasant with a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees celsius, two degrees more than normal and a minimum of 26.5 degrees celsius. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers occurred at some places in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours. The Met office said that maximum rainfall was recorded in Zamania, Gaighat and Salempur areas. Rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in eastern UP and one or two places over western parts of the state, it said. Central Water Commission reports said that all major rivers have registered a receding trend. In Rajasthan's Bikaner district, incessant rainfall has inundated many low-laying areas disrupting normal life. Rains have been lashing the areas for the last two days and 8 villages of Kolayat tehsil have been inundated, official sources said today. People are facing difficulties and families are shifting to safer places from the low-laying areas which are facing flood like situation as roads have been damaged and water is seeping into houses. In Madhya Pradesh, heavy rains and floods have so far claimed 31 lives prompting the state government to allocate Rs 12.47 crore additional funds for flood-affected 23 districts. Eight persons lost their lives in Hoshangabad district, followed by Bhopal where six people were killed due to rains and floods, an official release said here today.
